Aswan University participated in the activities of the first annual conference of the Digital Egypt Innovation Hubs, “Creativa Aswan,” in cooperation with Dandara for Creativity, as part of the university’s commitment to supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, empowering youth, and connecting university education outcomes with labor market needs and digital transformation.
The university was represented by Prof. Mahmoud Abdelaziz, Director of the Innovators Welfare Fund and a professor at the Faculty of Engineering, on behalf of Prof. Mohamed Abdelaziz Mehallal, Acting President of Aswan University. He emphasized that the university considers innovation one of the key pillars for shaping the future and is working to provide a stimulating environment for innovators, while transforming young people’s ideas into viable and investable solutions and projects.
Prof. Mahmoud Abdelaziz noted that Aswan University’s participation in the conference reflects its approach to expanding partnerships with institutions specializing in technology and entrepreneurship. Such partnerships provide Upper Egypt’s youth with greater opportunities for training, qualification and competition, in fields including artificial intelligence, data analysis, and the digital economy.
For his part, Dr. Hossam Mady, representative of the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC) at Creativa Aswan, stated that cooperation with Aswan University represents an important model of integration between the university and the innovation system. He praised the capabilities of the young participants in the Data Fusion competition and the diversity of their ideas and Their solutions are based on data analysis.
Mr. Mohamed Hany, Senior Projects Manager at the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) at the Digital Egypt Innovation Hubs, explained that the partnership with Aswan University contributes to supporting and preparing the youth of Upper Egypt for future jobs. He emphasized the importance of investing in digital skills as one of the key drivers of economic development.
Eng. Ahmed Gad, Director of Dandara for Creativity, said that national strategic partnerships play an important role in developing young people’s talents, particularly in entrepreneurship, creativity, innovation, and data analysis. He highlighted successful examples of young people who have gained valuable experience and demonstrated their ability to achieve their creative ambitions through knowledge and training.
Eng. Taha Gad, Community Manager at Creativa _ Qena and Aswan, noted that the conference demonstrates the outstanding creative capabilities of Upper Egypt’s youth. He stressed the importance of continuing cooperation with Aswan University to provide an environment conducive to discovering talent and transforming ideas into promising projects.
The conference also featured a panel discussion titled “Data and Its Role in Decision-Making,” which addressed the use of data and artificial intelligence in developing institutions and anticipating the future of the labor market.
The event concluded with the announcement of the results of the Data Fusion competition. Team X Two Z won first place and a prize of EGP 12,000, while Team COVID-19 came in second place, receiving EGP 10,000. Team TOURISM secured third place and a prize of EGP 8,000.
Aswan University reaffirmed its continued commitment to supporting the innovation and entrepreneurship system and creating genuine pathways for Upper Egypt’s youth to acquire future skills, thereby enhancing their ability to contribute to development and to building a knowledge- and technology-based economy.
