Today, the Postgraduate Studies and Research Council at Aswan University held its monthly session No. (129), chaired by Prof. Mohamed Abdel-Aziz Orabi – Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research Affairs – in attendance of Vice-Deans of the University Faculties for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and members of the Council.
During the discussion of the council’s work, Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Aziz Orabi stressed the importance of the university’s regional role towards Africa, as Aswan governorate is the gateway to Africa, and this places the university’s responsibility on the importance of consolidating joint and intertwined scientific and research relations with the African continent and African universities. The situation in Sudan was also discussed, in light of the crisis in the country, and the disruption of universities in Sudan, and accordingly, the Council discussed the proposal that the university provides a number of scholarships for African students in order to support researchers in several specializations and distinguished educational programs at Aswan University, especially the specializations of sustainable development, provided that it takes place through the various faculties of the university which number are 18 faculties, the Institute of African Research and Studies and the Technical Institute of Nursing, and our belief in the regional and strategic role of the university in the importance of African extension and integration with our African brothers in postgraduate studies and scientific research, according to selected disciplines supports sustainability and climate preservation.
The Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research added that the council discussed the formation of a committee to create a unified format for individual reports for master’s and doctoral students. The council also discussed many issues related to the scientific research system, the graduate studies sector and foreign students. The Council also discussed the formation of supervision and registration committees for researchers in various scientific disciplines.
