Yesterday, the activities of the seventh annual conference of the Department of Otolaryngology, Faculty of Medicine _Aswan University _was concluded, which was held in a hotel in Aswan Governorate over the course of 25-26/1/ 2023, under the auspices of Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman – Aswan University President – and in attendance of Prof. Mohamed Zaki Al-Dahshoury – Dean of Faculty of Medicine – and Dr. Essam Abo Al-Magd Al-Sherif – Head of the Ear, Nose and Throat Department and Chairman of the Conference – and Dr. Sami El-wan, Professor of Ear, Nose and Throat and President of the Egyptian Association of Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeons – and a group of professors of ENT from the participating universities, And Dr. Ashraf Mebed – Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals – and a group of senior professors of ear, nose and throat from various universities in Egypt, and Dr. Mahmoud Khalifa – Secretary of the conference – which was held under the title “the new in Diseases and Surgery of the Ear, Nose, Throat, Audiology and Speech”.
Dr. Essam Abo El-Magd said that the conference made several recommendations, the most important of which are: – Twinning with the Audiology Department of Assiut University to train resident physicians to train cadres and establish the Audiology Department at Aswan University.
As well as the importance of using nasal endoscopes in the optimal treatment of cases of nasal fever and sinus infections, and working on grafting the base of the skull instead of traditional surgical methods, with the use of otoscopes along with a surgical microscope in cases of grafting the eardrum, and working on setting up workshops for training in resection operations. salivary glands, in addition to training workshops on the removal of nasopharyngeal tumors. The conference was praised by participating professors from different universities; Such as Ain Shams University, Alexandria, Cairo, Tanta, Al-Azhar, the Military Institution, Minya, South Valley, Sohag, Menoufia, and Aswan University, which organized the conference.
