Vascular Surgery Department Launches the Vein Week Events

        Under the patronage of Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman – Acting President of Aswan University, and Prof. Mohamed Zaki Dahshouri – Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, in attendance of Prof. Magdy Mohamed Ali – Vice President for Community Service and Environment Development, the Vascular Surgery Department in faculty of medicine_ in Aswan, headed by Dr. Mohamed Ismail launched the Vein Week events today corresponding to 8th April  2021, at Tulip Hotel in Aswan, in coordination with the World Health Organization, in the midst of applying precautionary measures to prevent coronavirus by sterilization and measuring temperature For the attendees before entering the hall, as well as emphasizing wearing masks and applying social distancing between the attendees, as Dr. Ahmed Khalaf – lecturer in the Vascular Surgery Department_ coordinated the conference.

        Whereas Egypt has been invited as the leading country in this field in the African continent and the Arab world to participate in the event through the African Federation of Vascular Sciences and Surgery its headquarters in Aswan University and the founder and president of the federation, Prof. Emad El-Din Hussein_ professor of Vascular surgery at Ain Shams University, founder of the Egypt Association for Science and the supervisor of Vascular surgery department at Aswan University.

       Dr. Imad stated during his speech about what happened during the vein week, starting from Monday, corresponding to 5th April 2021, which is scheduled to continue until Sunday,11th  April. In contrast, the events began spreading awareness about veins diseases among citizens. In contrast, Different age groups were met through volunteers of internship students at the Faculty of Medicine_ at Aswan University. He added that several lectures would be held throughout the day, followed by a discussion session among the attendees to understand the importance of the seriousness of venous diseases.

       For his part, Dr. Al-Dahshouri_ Faculty Dean_ praised the activities of the Vascular Surgery Department in the Faculty of Medicine and the physicians of it, in terms of the efforts made in the department, as well as the role exerted in spreading awareness among citizens through the World Week events because of its great importance, as many people suffer In the age of 18-70 years from venous diseases, whether superficial or deep veins in the form of chronic venous insufficiency in the legs or deep vein thrombosis, which may lead to severe complications in the near or long term, as the prevalence of this disease in the community ranges between 17-20%, hence the importance of raising awareness of venous diseases among citizens.

      Dr. Othman_ Acting President of the University_ welcomed the attendees, as the attendees included a group of doctors from Aswan University Hospital. He praised the role of the university in general and the role of the Faculty of Medicine in particular in raising Aswan University Ranking internationally (Aswan University is among the best 400 universities in the world Because the faculty holds scientific conferences and publishes scientific research and the university always and always supports those activities and scientific meetings to spread awareness and keep up with everything new in the field of medical sciences.
