On the occasion of the visit of Sheikh Ahmed Abdel Hafeez, Sheikh of The Khalwati method Order in Nag Hammadi – Qena Governorate, to the city of Edfu.

The Sheikh stayed in Edfu for three days, during which he held Sufi remembrance and presence councils, delivered sermons and sermons, and visited the squares and shrines of the deceased and living saints in the company of his students, loved ones and disciples.

The dhikr (remembrance) sessions are part of the Sufi heritage rooted in Upper Egypt in general and in the city of Edfu and Aswan in particular.

The Sufi nights include the following:

12- Organizing the remembrance council where the Sheikh of the Tariqa sits on a high couch and on his right and left, while he is at the beginning of the rows, in the middle are two long rows of sitting dhikrs, and behind them are other rows of the Sheikh’s loved ones, disciples and students. The first two rows to the left and right of the Sheikh are the oldest students, followers, lovers and disciples of the Sheikh, as they have great knowledge of the system of these nights and the management of the dhikr session professionally and without errors.

13- The dhikr (remembrance)session begins with the Sheikh giving permission to start the session, and the Sheikh begins the council with the Basmala and praise of Allah Almighty and prayers and peace be upon our Master the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and his family and companions.

14- Beginning to recite the litanies of the Khalwatiyya method.

15- After finishing the recitation of the regular prayers of the method, the singers and eulogists present beautiful praise with sweet, melodious voices for the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and his family and companions, with the attendees repeating while sitting.

16- After that, the Sheikh indicates with his hand to stand to begin the remembrance in the standing position and he stands first, then the attendees line up in parallel rows so that the two middle rows are facing each other, then the remembrance begins with praise interspersed with the remembrance of There is no god but Allah and the beautiful names of Allah while standing with simple, calm swaying during the remembrance (the Khalwatiyya Presence) for about half an hour or less than an hour approximately.

17- Following that, the Sheikh sits and says, “May God forgive whoever sat.”

18- After that, the Sheikh gives a sermon, lesson or sermon about the importance of remembrance in the life of a Muslim and connecting with Allah Almighty and the importance of following the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and working with it, and the blessings and virtues of praying and sending peace upon the Messenger of Allah, and the virtue of the Household of the Prophet, their virtues, their company and following their good deeds.

19- At the end of the sermon, the Sheikh prays and recites the opening chapters for the Sheikhs, saints, the Household of the Prophet, the host of the house, the beloved, the disciples, the followers and the students of the Sheikh. As well as praying and reciting the opening chapters for Egypt and the entire Islamic nation for victory, goodness and guidance.
20- After that, the Sheikh gives permission to serve food to all attendees, which is the favorite and well-known dish on such occasions, which is “Fettah”, which is served in a large dish in which bread is mixed with dried Molokhia, rice and sauce, and pickles and sparrow tongue soup are served with it. Then the servants of the presence and the council pass by, which is a great honor and reward for them, by passing by the guests with cups of water while eating.

21- After eating, a large food tray filled with various types of fruits (mango, grapes, figs, apples) is brought in front of the Sheikh. The Sheikh’s son, his assistant, and his successor in the Sufi path cut it and prepare it for his father. Then the Sheikh gives permission to distribute the fruit to the attendees from his side, where the attendees take it and distribute it to each other as a blessing from the Sheikh and in optimism for goodness, provision, and blessings from Allah Almighty.
22- After that, cups of tea are distributed to the attendees.

23- The attendees then sit down while drinking tea to chat and talk about the family of the Prophet and the righteous saints of Allah and their virtues and miracles and the companions and sheikhs and get to know each other in an atmosphere of intimacy, love, harmony, and brotherhood in Allah and the brotherhood of Islam and the Sufi path with the Sheikh.

24- After that, the Sheikh rises from his seat announcing the beginning of the departure and the end of the meeting, and behind him are his students, followers, and disciples.

The Sheikh leaves the roof of the host’s house where the council was being held, to the street in front of the house, in the company of his friends, disciples and attendees, where private cars are waiting to take the Sheikh and his companions to the place of residence and overnight stay.
