Reproductive health services:
The university is preparing an action plan for reproductive health and family planning through the student care department and the medical department with the aim of providing the required reproductive health services and improving their quality. The plan aims to raise awareness of reproductive health issues through: –
– Holding special symposiums for female students in university dormitories to raise awareness of reproductive health, family planning and cancer disease.
– Presentation of the most prominent challenges facing the female students and the existence of a mechanism for continuous communication between them.
On the part of the university, the purpose of preparing this plan is to improve reproductive health – family planning to contribute to improving women’s health. The medical administration confirmed that the plan stems from the principles of the students’ right and freedom to know a safe method of family planning, leading to the provision of reproductive health services and information.
Reproductive health services:
– Members of the Community Organizing Department and postgraduate students in the department participated in an electronic training course on reproductive health organized by UNICEF:
About ten members of the Community Organizing Department, including professors, an assistant professors, Lecturers, assistant Lecturers, teaching assistants, as well as postgraduate students in the department of master’s and doctoral students, participated in an electronic training course on reproductive health organized by UNICEF from June to December 2022.
The course was presented through the electronic platform of Dawwie and UNICEF, which aims to train young men and women and raise awareness of relevant issues in the field of reproductive health, positive education and dealing with children. The training course dealt with topics such as:
- Caring for caregivers
- Emotional support for children
- Health and nutrition
- Positive discipline
- Learning and skills development
– Aswan University participated in the implementation of the “Egyptian Women Without Violence” symposium, which was organized by the National Council for Women in Aswan:
Based on Aswan University’s community role in supporting national and societal issues, a dialogue session entitled “Egyptian Women Without Violence” was implemented in Aswan University, at Faculty of Social Work in Sahari, and under the auspices of University President , in partnership with a number of Egyptian associations from Cairo and Aswan and the National Council for Women in the Aswan branch on Wednesday, November 30, coinciding with global and national efforts to confront violence against women.
Within this dialogue session, the following topics were reviewed:
-Women and their rights
– gender
– violence against Woman
– Efforts of civil society organizations to raise awareness of women’s issues
– Laws and legislation supporting women
– Aswan University presented a symposium entitled “Positive Education for Children” for teachers, social workers, parents and field training students at Abazid Kindergarten School on Monday, November 28, 2022.
Aswan University participated in presenting two symposiums entitled “Positive Education and Confronting Family Problems in Local Communities”
Within the activities of the Umm Habiba Foundation, in cooperation with the National Council for Women in Aswan, for men and women, in the villages of Selwa and Al-Sedeqia, in Kom Ombo, on Saturday and Sunday, November 26 and 27, 2022.
The Department of Public Health conducted health education sessions on reproductive health
The Public Health department conducted health education sessions on reproductive health and premarital examination for Egyptian university students via social media platforms (zoom, Microsoft teams,…….)). from 7/10/2023 to 7/24/2023
The students of the second year at Faculty of Medicine, Aswan, approximately one hundred and ninety students (190 students), conducted these sessions.
Each student in the second year conducted an educational session that included ten students. The sessions aimed to introduce premarital examinations, their benefits, the examinations that take place, places to receive the service, and an introduction to some of the diseases that are detected.
– Aswan University organized a campaign to raise awareness of the need for family planning:
Under the slogan (family planning is a joint responsibility between the spouses) “2 is enough”, from 27: 5/31/2022. The project of “2 Enough” comes within the main interventions taken by the Ministry of Social Solidarity in order to achieve its vision of achieving comprehensive social development, implementing integrated programs for human development in poor areas, and including in these programs a population component to change prevailing reproductive values to limit excessive population increase.
