Mental health services:
Nationally, and indeed globally, there is growing concern about the mental health challenges facing young people as a result of the increasing pressures they face living, studying and working in today’s world. We also know that employees in higher education report higher levels of stress and anxiety than previous generations. It is our absolute priority at Aswan University to work with our students and staff to promote good physical and mental health.
Aswan University has taken many measures to support the mental health of students, staff, faculty members and civil society:
The university provides support to students and employees who need help through (Training, Psychological Counseling and Human Development Unit), which aims to:
-Providing psychological, social and administrative training and counseling to community institutions.
-Providing guidance and psychological counseling services, whether therapeutic, marital, family or youth counseling, whether for ordinary people or people with special needs.
-Providing psychological, vocational and administrative counseling services, especially for some cases that suffer from behavioral disorders that impede them from psychological and professional adjustment.
-Providing training programs for nurses, psychologists, social workers, teachers and researchers in the field of psychology and special education and those who work with students.
– Establishing counseling courses and training programs in management psychology and vocational and psychological rehabilitation for workers in various professional fields to qualify their employees and increase their professional competencies.
-Preparing counseling programs for young people inside and outside the university aimed at protecting them intellectually from destructive intellectual currents and behavioral deviations.

-Aswan University has a special department for “Mental Health“. Everyone is welcome to the mental health department
-Mental health services at Aswan University include individual, marital/partner and group counseling services, awareness programs and stress management. We also provide 24/7 crisis services and psychiatry services are also available to administer medications.
The Department of Mental Health holds or participates in psychological seminars and conferences and conducts counseling and academic training courses to support mental health. Examples of these courses are:
-A course in autism, measurement and diagnosis
– Preparing counseling and therapeutic programmes
– Psychological Statistics Course.
The Faculty of Education at Aswan University also opened the Center for “Counseling and Psychological Services for Special Education”, which would prepare and implement skills courses. The first activity of this center was the “Professional Plan Preparation Skills” course.
Aswan University also held a “collaboration protocol with the Ministry of Endowments.” Which aims at training and scientific exchange, and training imams and preachers to increase awareness and education towards current issues in several fields, including in the sciences of the Arabic language and its fields in the sciences of psychology and in communication skills and the art of recitation.
The university’s efforts were not limited to this extent, but rather organized and participated in many training and awareness courses to support mental health, including:
– Aswan University participated in obtaining the training of family counseling providers 2023 with the Egyptian Association of Members of the British Royal College of Pediatrics and the National Council for Women from May 6, 2023 to June 2, 2023
Aswan University held a training course for faculty members under the title (Leadership and Influence) during the period from 2 to 4 October 2022.
– Aswan University hosted a training course under the title “Development of Self-Skills”, which was held over two days in cooperation between Aswan University, First Academy for Self-Skills Development and the American Embassy in Cairo.
Cooperation with Foundation affiliated to the university and contracted with it in order to design and implement training programs required socially through these Foundations, including:
1- the Arab African Foundation in communication and special needs.
2- The university’s information center in the field of statistical analysis for data using (SPSS).
3- Abu Simbel Foundation for Training in the Field of Autism and Psychological Counseling.
