3.3.1 Current collaborations with health institutions

Our university continuously pays greater attention to implement the Sustainable Development Goals, not least delivering Good Health and Well-being. To achieve this goal, Aswan University in 2022/ 2023 has continued support collaboration with various health institutions to improve health and well-being outcomes.
Collaboration with local Health Institutions: –

Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman, President of Aswan University, and Prof. Hamdy Hussein, President of Luxor University, attended the conclusion of the fifth international pain management conference held by the Anesthesiology Department at Aswan University in collaboration with Guy’s and St. Thomas Hospital, which took place in Luxor over three days.

 

 

  • Cooperation protocol with (Abu Simbel International Hospital) to exchange medical expertise and Training medical staff and nursing staff to improve health and well-being outcomes.
  • Aswan University, in cooperation with the Aswan Health Directorate, organized a medical convoy for the people of Kobaniya, west of the Nile, to provide medical care through the specialties: ophthalmology, general surgery, ENT, orthopedics, internal medicine, brain, neurology, children, dermatology and urology.
  • Aswan University, in cooperation with the Higher Medical Committee and the Medical Relief Committee of the Council of Ministers, Sonaa Al Kheir for Development Foundation, the strategic partner, the National Bank of Egypt, the Directorate of Health Affairs in Aswan, Rota Biogen Pharmaceuticals and Banque Misr Foundation for development, organized a medical convoy for the people of the village of Al-Madiq in the Nasr Al-Nuba Center.
            

At the beginning of Friday morning, the activities of the medical convoy for cleft lip surgeries and congenital defects in the head and neck began at Aswan University hospital, under the auspices of Major General. Ashraf Attia_ Governor of Aswan, Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman_Aswan university President, and Dr. Mohamed Zaki El Dahshoury_ Dean of Faculty of Medicine. And Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aswan University Hospitals – and Dr.  Ashraf Mebed – Executive Director of the University Hospitals – and Dr. / Mohamed Salah – Director of Al-Batinah Specialized Hospital – and Dr. / Mostafa Adam Al-Tairi _ Vice Dean of Faculty of Medicine – and Dr. Ahmed Qenawy – Head of the Plastic Surgery Department at Aswan University Hospital – Which is supervised by the Department of Cosmetic Surgery at Aswan University Hospital, in attendance of Dr. Ghada Abo Zaid – Deputy Governor of Aswan.

Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Osman, President of Aswan University, stated that within the framework of the efforts made by the Egyptian state in light of the war in the Republic of Sudan, and under the guidance of the political leadership, the medical convoy concluded its activities, organized by Faculty of Medicine at Aswan University in collaboration with the Medical and Relief Committee of the Cabinet. The initiative was under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, president of republic, the Cabinet, Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Major General. Ashraf Attia, Governor of Aswan, Prof. Ayman Osman. The activities commenced on Saturday, May 6, 2023, and concluded with treatment operations on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Qustal port, where a total of 895 cases were examined, with 74 cases transferred to Aswan University Hospitals.

 

  • Cooperating with the Directorate of Health Affairs in Aswan (Ministry of Health) to provide vaccines such as (scorpion-snake-tetanus). And signed multiple Memorandums of understanding with different local medical analysis Laboratories.
  • Corporation with the (Directorate of Health Affairs in Aswan) and (members of parliament in the Kom Ombo Center), organized Medical convoy Kom Ombo central Hospital includes ten specialties (General surgery – blood vessels – children – skin – orthopedics – urinary tract – ear, nose and throat – ophthalmology – psychological and neurological diseases – obstetrics and gynecology).
  • Corporation with (Medical Isolation Hospital in Al-Sdaka Al-Gadida). We Sent medical team from Aswan University Hospital to support doctors for confront the new Corona virus and serve the injured.
  • The university has organized a Medical convoy in corporation with Operation Smile Foundation for medical convoy, to treat Egyptian, Arab and immigrant children, With the aim of treating cases of: (Birthmarks – Hand adhesions after burns – Burn scars and deformities – Cleft lip and cleft palate – Deformities and adhesions burns – Congenital hand defects).
  •  Aswan University in Cooperation with Fund for Drug Control and Treatment of Addiction, where launched the initiative of Addiction Rehabilitation and Treatment Center project in the Aswan Al Gadeda to serve Aswan people.

    • Aswan university cooperation with Accreditation and Health Control to organize health seminar to implement quality and accreditation standards and seek to place Aswan University hospitals among the university hospitals that have obtained the accreditation of the General Authority for Health Control and Accreditation, through a plan established for development through which quality and accreditation standards are applied.

  • Aswan University, in cooperation with the Higher Medical Committee and the Medical Relief Committee of the Council of Ministers, Sonaa Al Kheir for Development Foundation, the strategic partner, the National Bank of Egypt, the Directorate of Health Affairs in Aswan, Rota Biogen Pharmaceuticals and Banque Misr Foundation for development, organized a medical convoy for the people of the village of Al-Madiq in the Nasr Al-Nuba Center.
  • Collaborating with the Ministry of Health and JSI skills in the areas of family planning and support for training doctors and nursing throughout Aswan Governorate, as well as ways to activate scientific research in the fields of family planning, and procedures for opening a family planning clinic at the University Hospital, which will have a significant impact on the health program for the citizens of Aswan.
  • The university has organized a medical convoy in corporation with International Medical Convoy and The Ministry of Health in Aswan and the Directorate of Health in Aswan for medical convoy for plastic surgery and repair of the cleft lip and cleft palate.
  • Signed Memorandums of understanding with Ain Shams Specialized Hospital & Assiut Hospital to deliver good health and well-being to the Staff and employees of Aswan University.
  • Collaborating with The Association of Integrative Medicine and Sleep Disorders to train young doctors in Aswan University Hospital on what is new in the field of Integrative medicine and sleep diseases, and several lectures include subjects about pains and sensitivity chest, chronic pulmonary embolism, breath disorders syndrome during sleeping and overlap between them, CT scan of the chest and the treatment of pneumothorax. The workshop also includes how to treat lung cancer and obesity surgeries and the methods of transferring samples.
Collaboration with International Health Institutions: –
2022/2023
Prof. Mohamed Zaki Al-Dahshouri_ Former Dean of Faculty of Medicine_ Aswan University_ stated that the medical convoy completed its work in Tanzania, which began during the period from 25/8 to 1/9/2023 under the auspices of Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman_ Aswan University President_ whereas the convoy was able in its fourth consecutive season, it performs approximately 55 surgeries for cases of urinary tract defects in children.
 

Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman _ Aswan University president_ declared that in frame of the efforts made by the Egyptian state in light of the war in the brotherly Republic of Sudan, in light of the directives of the political leadership, to provide the medical and food support and good reception in Aswan governorate to Sudanese brothers, Aswan University hospitals have implemented great medical and therapeutic efforts, especially the provision of free treatment to Sudanese brothers, Egyptians, and foreigners fleeing the Sudanese war coming to Aswan through the port of Qastal. Aswan University Hospitals also received a high-level delegation from the World Health Organization in appreciation of its role in light of the Sudanese crisis.

 

The Central Administration of the Technical Affairs for Councils and Committees of the Undergraduate Education Sectors and Cultural Affairs, regarding the letter issued from the Minister of International Cooperation on the Ministry of International Cooperation ( national coordinator) will hold a workshop about the new stage of the: ”Cooperating Across Borders in the Mediterranean (ENICBCMED) Program”
This is in light of the European EU program ”INTERREG NET MED,” which runs from 2014 to 2020; the workshop reviewed the program’s goals as well as how to create projects in accordance with the program’s requirements and objectives.
In the context of promoting scientific research and raising the level of research, the Science, Technology, and Innovation Funding Authority, in cooperation with the esteemed university, announces the opening of applications for: ”The second research call for the innovation grants in applied sciences, technology, and manufacturing”
The grants aims to: link scientific research with industry by supporting and promoting applicable technology and industrialization, contributing to improving the social and economic system, and reducing imports by Egypt’s 2030 vision.
Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Osman-Aswan University President declares that within the framework of the health efforts conducted by the Second Medical Convoy of Aswan University under the auspiece of Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar – Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Health, during the time period from 7 to 20 May 2022, and works on providing the medical and therapeutic services for citizens at Tanzania; the medical convoy concluded its works with conducting 90 surgeries.

   

  • In coordination with the World Health Organization, Aswan University launched the activities of the World Vein Week to Awareness of citizens about venous diseases.
Aswan University organize Yearly Medical convey to various African countries country of Tanzania in several medical fields. This medical convoy to Tanzania comes at the invitation of the United State of Tanzania represented by the Tanzanian Ministry of Health in Zanzibar and to organize a surgical camp in order to sign a medical examination and perform the necessary surgeries while providing free medicines to patients in Tanzania on 22, July 2021 until 30, July which has performed many delicate surgeries for various malformations in the specialty of “urology and genitourinary surgery”, especially congenital malformations in children in Tanzania.
  • Aswan University with different international parties joint forces to organize the international medical conference entitled “The New in Facial and Head Surgeries”. Different professors from the United States of America & the Great Britain, have participated in the conference in collaboration with the Department of Aesthetic Medicine in Assiut University, and the Egyptian Society of Plastic Surgery, to improve health and well-being outcomes.
  • Collaborating with the Chinese Burn Association for constructing a comprehensive building to treat burns in the university hospital which is funded by the Chinese governments.
